I was wishing not to hear from the nurse about my bloodwork taken more than a week ago because hearing from her means I had to redo the glucose tolerance test, and it is not fun at all! She called me early this week to tell me that I failed the one-hour test and that I had to reschedule for the three-hour test soon.

A glucose tolerance test is a medical test in which glucose is given and blood samples are taken afterward to determine how quickly it is cleared from the blood. The test is used to test for gestational diabetes for pregnant women. As a preparation, I fasted for at lest 8 hours starting from midnight. When we got to the testing center the following morning, they took a blood sample and gave me a 300 ml (10 oz) of a very sweet glucose solution to drink within a five-minute time frame. They were supposed to take blood samples every hour for three consecutive hours but it was not long after I finished drinking the solution when I started feeling sick and I threw up. That was not fun and I was not happy about it because that meant we could not continue with the test. Instead, I have to go back on a different day, fast again and redo the test. I am going back on Saturday and I am hoping to get it done and pass the test.

Me at 28 weeks and 2 days. I already gained  a little over 11 kilos (about 24 lbs) and have to gain more!!!
Me drinking the glucose solution.

Bummer on having to take the test again! But you sure look cute, if that is any consolation.

Yay on getting through the test. I am so sorry you have to go through the unpleasant parts of this pregnancy. We are grateful you are willing to do this! Two wonderful little babies will make it all worthwhile. You're in our prayers. Thanks for the pics and the updates.
